How to Set Up a Game: Step by Step
1. Get your setup ready (if needed)
Before opening Mukiz, decide how you want to play:
- Live (streamers): launch OBS (or your streaming software) and set up a scene with the Mukiz window.
- In person (friends or coworkers): connect your computer to a TV or projector via HDMI, or cast wirelessly with AirPlay/Chromecast.
- Remote: you’ve got two options:
Share your screen via Zoom, Teams, or Discord.
Or let everyone play directly from their own device (no screen sharing needed).
2. Open Mukiz and Create Your Game
Go to play.mukiz.com on your computer, or use the app on your phone or tablet.
From the homepage, click Play, then Create a game with friends.
👉 You’ll then need to choose between two modes:
Same room: the sound only plays from the host’s device.
Remote: the sound is broadcast on all participants’ devices.
💡 Which mode should you choose?
With friends: just pick depending on your setup (all together or each at home).
At work: same room is usually best to avoid background noise.
Streamers:
Same room → different delays for each viewer (unfair).
Remote → synced audio, fairer experience, but audio is duplicated between Twitch and Mukiz.
3. Set Up Your Room
Once you’re in your room, you can customize the game:
Change the playlist → pick a theme that fits (by genre, artist, or special topic).
Change the game mode → choose how to play (multiple choice, open answer, elimination, or first-to-answer).
Game settings (⚙️) → adjust the duration and number of clips, turn the leaderboard on or off, and decide whether to launch the clips manually.
4. Enable Presentation Mode (optional)
Click on 📺 at the top right to switch to presentation mode.
👉 This mode is only used if you’re playing in the same room.
When activated, the device you’re using becomes dedicated to displaying and playing the game audio:
You can’t answer from this device anymore.
But you can still join the game using your phone or another device connected to Mukiz.
5. Invite Players
A QR code and a game code are automatically generated in your room.
Your friends or coworkers can join in two ways:
Scan the QR code with their phone
Enter the code directly in the app or on play.mukiz.com, in the “Join with a code” field (just above the Create a game with friends button)
And now, start the game 🎶
Once all players are connected, click Start to begin.
Mukiz takes care of the rest: clips, answers, and scores are all handled automatically.
All you have to do is host the game or just enjoy playing!
